SPRING GARDEN CABINS

The Spring Garden Cabins is a new residential development in Multnomah Neighborhood, which seeks to bring a nature-friendly response to the emerging cottage cluster typology. Situated on a large parcel directly adjacent to Spring Garden Park, this multi-dwelling development will create (8) new residential homes. Each of the homes are 2 bedroom, 1 bath and between 825-850 SF. Six of the homes are small, stand-alone, single family homes and the additional two units are in a duplex. There is one common building in the northwest corner of the lot, containing: bicycle storage, trash/recycling and mail/parcel boxes. Additional site features include an off-street parking lot, a shared gardening area and central pathway. The pathway crosses a wetland feature by way of a land bridge, toward the middle of the property.

Environmental sustainability is a primary goal of this project. The small, essentially-designed homes will be built to minimize energy consumption, incorporate passive solar design, utilize sustainable materials and have a strong connection to nature. The landscape design features a dense natural and native plant palette which will encourage a diverse ecosystem, as well as be a responsible upstream filtration component for the onsite wetland. The shared features including gardening space, EV charging station, trash/recycling/compost and bike storage minimize the overall size of each home and further support responsible, urban living.
